Refund policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
Everything we sell is a digital software license delivered by email. Nothing is shipped, so there is no return to post and no shipping cost to recover. What follows is how refunds work in practice.
The short version
If you have not redeemed your key, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund. If a key does not work, we replace it or refund it, however long it takes to discover that. Once a key has been redeemed against a Microsoft account it cannot be resold, so from that point it is refundable only if it is faulty.
Contact us before requesting a refund. Most refund requests turn out to be activation problems that take five minutes to solve.
Unredeemed keys: 30 days
A key you have not entered anywhere can be returned for any reason within 30 days of purchase. You do not need to give a reason.
- Email us with your order number and confirm the key has not been redeemed.
- We verify that the key is still unredeemed.
- We refund to the original payment method. We process refunds within 2 business days of approving them; how long the funds take to appear depends on your bank or card issuer, typically 5 to 10 business days.
We check redemption status because a refunded key that has already been redeemed costs us the full license. This step is not negotiable.
Keys that will not activate
If a key fails to activate and the fault is ours, you are covered, and this is not limited to the 30-day window. A key that never worked was never a key.
Send us your order number and the exact error message or code. We will:
- Diagnose it. Most activation failures are an edition mismatch or the wrong Microsoft account, and both are fixable without a new key.
- Issue a replacement key if the key itself is at fault.
- Refund you in full if we cannot supply a working replacement.
Redeemed keys
Once a key has been redeemed against a Microsoft account, the license is permanently bound to that account. It cannot be resold, recovered or transferred back to us. Redeemed keys are therefore not refundable unless they are faulty.
This is stated at checkout as well as here, because it is the most common source of disputes in this trade and neither of us benefits from it being a surprise.
If you bought the wrong license
It happens, and the plans are genuinely confusing. If the key is unredeemed, return it under the 30-day rule and buy the right one. Tell us what you actually need and we will point you at it first.
If you have already redeemed the wrong license we cannot refund it, but tell us anyway. There is often a route through Microsoft's own support and we will help you find it.
Subscription renewals
Microsoft 365 subscriptions renew through your Microsoft account, not through us. We cannot cancel or refund a renewal that Microsoft has charged you for. Turn auto-renew off in your Microsoft account if you do not want it.
How to request a refund
Email support@nimbuslicensing.com with your order number and one line about what went wrong. There is no form to fill in and no ticket number to quote back at us. We reply within one business day and tell you what happens next.
Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, please contact us before opening a chargeback with your bank. It is almost always faster, and we would rather fix the problem than lose you as a customer.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy affects the rights you have under consumer law where you live. In some places those rights include a cooling-off period for digital purchases, which you may waive once redemption begins. Where local law gives you more than this policy does, local law applies.
